Bone Chilling Stories

Your students will be able to scare up some fun stories with these 3 writing activities. Bone Chilling Stories include 3 different ideas to use for creative writing or story writing for the month of October. 

Also included are Graphic Organizers and Planning Maps to help organize writing. Click the picture to read more about it.

 The 1st set of stories has 12 bones with Halloween words on them. The students use all the words on the bone to write a story. Choose a graphic organizer to plan writing.

The 2nd set of stories include a character, setting, and plot on 12 candy corn pieces. Students choose a candy corn to write a story using the 3 story elements.

The 3rd set of stories also have a character, setting, and plot. Cut the 16 sets of cards apart and put in 3 separate jars. Students pick a card from each jar to write a story.

Click Story Writing on the left to see the "everyday" theme for Story writing. This one is just like Bone Chilling Stories, but without a holiday theme. Your students will have a great time generating some fun stories!

A Jar of Fall - Freebie Math Game

 A Jar of Fall Addition Game
A Jar of Fall is a fun math game to practice addition and multiplication facts. There are two versions for A Jar of Fall.

A Jar of Fall Addition pack has 2 game boards. They include:
Addition: Facts 2-12
Addition: Adding 3 addends for facts 3-18

For the 1st addition game, players roll 2 dice and add for a sum. Players cover the sums on the game board. The first player to cover 10 numbers in the jar is the winner.

For the 2nd version, players roll 3 dice and add for a sum. Players cover 5 numbers in the jar to be a winner.

 A Jar of Fall Multiplication Game
For the multiplication version, players roll 2 dice and multiply for a product. Players cover the products on the game board. The first player to cover 10 numbers in the jar is the winner.

Ask and Answer Questions CCSS Freebie!

To be a good reader, you will need to ask and answer questions as you read. Students should be continuously asking questions at the beginning, middle, and, to the end of the story. Asking and Answering questions is also a requirement in the Common Core Standards for all subject areas. Asking ourselves questions as we read, helps us stay focus and involved in the story which will help us to comprehend the story. 

Ask and Answer Questions is also a reading strategy that students should be able to do proficiently. They will be able to to organize their thoughts when they do this and comprehend what they are reading.
